Punch riveting - Special processes -
This guideline is based on the Technical Bulletin DVS/EFB 3410 "Self-pierce riveting - Overview" and describes special self-pierce riveting processes. These may have different joining properties, different process sequences or different joining kinematics. In self-pierce riveting, overlapped parts are joined without pre-piercing by means of solid or semi-tubular self-pierce rivets. The mechanism of action is based on a combination of friction and positive locking. The methods and different processes listed represent the state of the art. Their practical implementation must be clarified in each individual case.
